Fashion's future from the west side

They breed the likes of Gemma and Nicole, now Perth is breeding some serious designer talents too.

Final day of RAFW brings us 5 Perth young designers, who are so completely unique in their visions bring freshness to fashion week.

There was the craziness (architectural heels anyone?) that was Jaime Lee Major, sheer nonchalance that was Paper Skye, eye popping brights of Poppy Lissiman, strict tailoring at Arj Selvan, and fun looks from Daniella Caputi.

The stand out for us was Paper Skye. In a week so full of colour blocking, print clashing and Jil Sander inspirations, Paper Skye's muted palette of nudes, creams and blacks floating down the runway was exhilarating.

The final moment came when current face Miriana glided down the runway in a sheer pleated maxi dress.

A big thanks goes to Margaret from Shine By Three for her amazing styling, who earned some serious stars from her blogger peers.

Runway shots will be posted soon.

the coolest kids on the block

Sneaky snap of the fashion's current and future taste makers havin' some fun.

Sorry for the blurry pic but I ain't no pro-blogger.

Who knew banksias could be so trendy?

Australiana is back with a BANG at our friend Sara Phillip's show.

We personally think she is the only designer that can turn our national flora in to a insanely cool centre piece, not to mention delightful looks featuring a cobalt blue banksia and desert shades of mustard, burnt orange and splashes of dusk pinks, juxtaposed with a billowing snake trench (We are taking 10 of those thanks). We LOVED the pops of colour courtesy of Belle Bijoux in belts and earthy slouch bags, cleverly used as clutches.

So, with a slight delay (i forgot to bring my camera) and thanks to vogue.com.au, I bring you Sara Phillips 2011/2012 featuring Belle Bijoux accessories.

Little ray of sunshine through the clouds today.

Having the privilege of being part of RAFW and meeting incredibly (stylish) talented young people never ceases to amaze us.

As we get older each year, the people whose opinion matters are younger and more gifted. Especially those who let their fingers do the talking and clicking.

Therefore, when we have the opportunity to meet the new crop of stylists/editors/bloggers/journalist like Genesis from the Dandysachs blog, we are always impress by their manners, presentation, maturity and politeness.

So, as always, thank you for your support Mister M.

Lo Sordo = E.P.I.C.

Summer wardrobe sorted.

I'll take 1 x custom Belle Bijoux for Michael Lo Sordo belts in each colour thanks.

Feel like I just woke up from a dream...

You sexy thang

Menswear is a notoriously niche market, with most males preferring old tees and ragged jeans which they've worn since high school.

So it's refreshing to see Subfusco's defiance against current men's trends and do a little shake up. It's certainly not for the fainted hearted but if you know how to work it, there are sleek separates which can add swagger to a wardrobe.

Pretty boys in pretty Subfusco garments and pretty Antoine & Stanley shoes. What's not to love? GQ did!

Venice & Karla round 2

Detailed shots of the Venice for Karla Spetic pieces

Venice & Karla

Last night we saw two bright young things of fashion collide. In a good way.

Jewellery Artist and Photographer Venice Rish collaborated with Karla Spetic on her SS2011/2012 collection, creating hand made glass pieces adorning necks, wrists and fingers of the models.

Each piece has Karla's fabric tiles imprinted on the glass jewel itself, subtly referencing both designer's ideas and seamlessly completing the overall look.

The styling was clean, bright and fresh, with key colours of Lime, Chocolate, Orange, and Coral.

What's in your bag?

On more than one occasion, bewildered strangers have stared at Lee & I when we are out, having a little screaming match on the streets about why i don't carry a hand bag. Frankly it's laziness and I'd probably lose it, plus I'd rather Lee look after my stuff so it's in a safe place.

So we thought we'd take this opportunity to let you guys have peek at what we will be toting around RAFW, because at the end of the day, this is our survival kit for this gruelling, Olympic-esque week.

One day Lee, one day you'll see me carry my own.

RAFW DAY 1 highlights

Ok Peeps, let me just brief you on the top 5 fashion un-related highlights of RAFW day 1 (and we all know i LOVE a count down).

Don't worry, fashion related posts will come later (when i remember my camera) along with day one outfits.

5. Kate Waterhouse - my current girl crush in a red pleated Miu Miu dress with acid yellow belt, Chanel 2.55. Did i mention the AMAZING sculptures she is wearing as footwear?

4. Phil Oh from Street Peeper / US Vogue. So awkwardly adorable and super sweet. Definitely my current blogger (and hair) crush. MUST steal his Henrik Vibskov jumper and Jil Sander bag somehow...

3. Fashion week seating controversy witnessed. Did someone say career suicide?

2. INCREDIBLE hot pink head to toe - the EPIC, yet very hard to pull off tonal look - as seen on Poppy Lissiman. Oh my, she certainly inherited style...from her tres chic mamma.

1. The DEATH of Bin Laden. Slightly more news worthy than RAFW don't you think?

Say hi to Mister Zimi

Yes we all know there is a massive migration to Sydney thanks to RAFW but I know there are a few Melbourne-ites who'd rather die than brave the fash-pack.

If you are one of those Melb kids who are too cool to come up state (and we all know Melbourneians are WAY cooler than us up here), you should totally check out the Mister Zimi pop up store on Earl Street, and say hi to Zoe, the pretty face (and brain) behind the label.

the verdict is - CUSTOM COUTURE WORTHY FOR FASHION WEEK. Peeps in Sydney - Jealous??
